The final phase of upland public infrastructure within the Port of Everett’s Fisherman’s Harbor district of Waterfront Place will move forward, thanks to a $3.7 million agreement with Granite Construction.
The Port of Everett Commission recently approved the contract with Granite for building the new SE Millwright Loop and open spaces, which will allow for more road access from Fisherman’s Harbor to the Port’s Central Docks and the future Waterfront Place.
The project, set to start later this month, also calls for a new marina parking lot, a link from the new Fisherman's Harbor esplanade to the existing esplanade along the Central Docks’ north side, and a new public space between the future 142-room Hotel Indigo and the new Pacific Rim Plaza and splash fountain, according to the port.
Fisherman’s Harbor is expected to open in mid-2019.
“This is an exciting time for our community,” Port Commissioner Bruce Fingarson said. “By this time next year, the highly anticipated Fisherman’s Harbor will officially open for all to enjoy, providing access to the waterfront’s newest central gathering space at Pacific Rim Plaza, new lodging and dining at Hotel Indigo, and shortly thereafter, new housing and restaurant opportunities.”

Everett Long-Term Lease Inked

The Port of Everett has inked a long-term ground lease with Waterfront Place Retail, LLC, an entity associated with The Schuster Group, to build restaurants and retail in Fisherman’s Harbor at Waterfront Place. The deal is expected to bring millions of dollars annually to the local economy.
The lease includes five parcels between Seiner Drive and the Esplanade, two at the entry of Waterfront Place, and the Port Gardner Landing parcel.
"We're very excited to be a part of this landmark project for the Port of Everett,” President of The Schuster Group Holly Gardner said. “The Waterfront Place project fits within our focus on emerging markets and our wheelhouse of expertise. Perhaps most importantly, it aligns with our mission of creating distinctive, sustainable projects of enduring value."
Fisherman’s Harbor is the first phase of the 65-acre Waterfront Place Central mixed-use development, which will feature 266 apartment homes, a 142-room hotel with meeting and event space and nine retail and waterfront restaurant spaces.
The area will also feature the Esplanade waterside public trail, the Dock Walk, Seiner Wharf and the Pacific Rim Plaza.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-to-late 2019.

Hotel Planned for Everett Waterfront

This month, the Port of Everett Commission endorsed plans to ink a long-term lease with a developer to build a 142-room flagship Hotel Indigo in Fisherman’s Harbor at Waterfront Place.
Waterplace LLC, in partnership with Columbia Hospitality, was selected for its hotel concept, which pay homage to the port’s global impact and complements the nearby Pacific Rim Plaza, which honors Everett’s international trading relationships.
The deal includes the construction and management of an 86,163-square-foot hotel under a 50-year land lease, with three 10-year options.
"The Port team received proposals from three well-known and qualified hotel operators to serve as the anchor tenant for Fisherman’s Harbor," said Terrie Battuello, the port’s chief of business development. "Ultimately, we selected Columbia Hospitality because of their Hotel Indigo flag that prides their facilities on embracing the character and history of the communities that they operate in, and the Waterfront Place story is the heart and soul of this new waterfront community."
Hotel Indigo is slated for construction in January 2018 and will feature a restaurant, lounge, indoor swimming pool, conference center, retail shops and business center, as well as pedestrian-friendly walkways and public spaces. "We are honored to collaborate with the Port of Everett on what will be a transformational project for the downtown Everett waterfront," said John Oppenheimer, Columbia Hospitality founder and CEO. "Our collective goal is to create an incredible destination for locals, tourists and businesses alike, stimulating economic growth for Snohomish County."

Improvements should be completed in 2018, according to the port.
