The United States Federal Maritime Commission announced Monday the appointment of Rebecca Fenneman as the commission's new general counsel.
Fenneman, who had been serving as the FMC deputy general counsel, joined the commission in 1998 as an attorney-advisor in the Office of the General Counsel. She has also served as deputy director in the commission's Bureau of Trade Analysis.
"The Commission is fortunate to have Rebecca's exceptional legal and maritime regulatory expertise and judgment as we confront the challenges of ensuring that the economic recovery is supported by a strong, efficient, and sustainable ocean transportation system that benefits US exporters and consumers," said FMC Chairman Richard Lidinsky.
The FMC, an independent federal agency, is based in Washington D.C. and responsible for the regulation of international oceanborne transportation within the US.
