Port Tech Expo Set for Sept. 17

Federal Maritime Commission Chair Mario Cordero and the executive directors of the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports have been named as speakers at the fifth annual PortTechEXPO taking place in the LA waterfront area on Sept. 17.

The PortTechEXPO is an annual gathering now in its fifth year that is hosted by PortTech LA. During the event, technology companies can connect with business prospects at Southern California’s ports and explore opportunities.

This year’s event features demonstrations, interactive displays and new advancements in environment, energy, transportation and security technology solutions.

The event’s scheduled for 8 am to 3 pm at Crafted at the Port of Los Angeles, a large-scale craft marketplace located at 110 East 22nd St. in San Pedro.

Speakers during the morning session include Cordero, Port of LA Executive Director Gene Seroka and Port of Long Beach Executive Director Jon Slangerup. Also during the event, San Diego County-based TransPower is set to become the first-ever recipient of the event’s Advancing Innovation Award, which recognizes PortTech LA client companies that have excelled in moving from concept to production. TransPower’s fleet of heavy-duty, zero-emission vehicles, including drayage trucks and yard tractors, will be showcased at the expo.

PortTechEXPO Seeks Sponsors, Exhibitors

PortTech Los Angeles, a business incubator that develops and promotes businesses with clean technologies, has set the date for its fourth annual PortTechEXPO, where companies can connect with business prospects at Southern California’s ports.

This year’s expo, which is scheduled for Sept. 11, 2013 on the Los Angeles waterfront, is expanding to feature clean technology demonstrations, interactive displays and the technology advancements for ports and beyond.

The event is scheduled to showcase up to 100 clean technology exhibitors, presenters and sponsors and hundreds of individual, corporate and civic leaders. PortTechLA currently seeks entrepreneurs, exhibitors, investors, sponsors and industry and community leaders to participate in PortTechEXPO 2013.

At the event, clean technology entrepreneurs would have a chance to connect with investors, increase visibility within domestic and international markets and network with industry leaders, organizers say.

For investors, the expo represents an opportunity to meet a variety of clean technology entrepreneurs and explore the latest clean technology innovations. For industry leaders, the event is a chance to see the latest clean technology products and services.

This year, the daylong event takes place for the first time at Crafted at the Port of Los Angeles, a large-scale craft marketplace in San Pedro.

Third Annual PortTechExpo Set


PortTechLA, a non-profit technology center and business incubator founded in part by the port and city of Los Angeles, is conducting its third annual PortTechExpo on Sept. 5 and 6.

This year’s conference, according to the event’s organizer, focuses on exploring and helping to fund the most innovative environmental, energy, transportation and security technologies for the maritime industry.

The Expo, which attracts business and community leaders, venture capitalists, maritime industry experts and technology entrepreneurs from around the region, has been expanded this year to include a pre-event evening session for a technology entrepreneur competition.

The clean technology entrepreneur competition on Sept. 5 will feature 10 finalists, chosen from competitions to be held Aug. 16 and 22. Selected finalists will have the opportunity to pitch their innovative technology ideas to a panel of judges, investors and invited guests on the evening of Sept. 5.
